Preferences and filtered Emails: Currently your preferred activities, times, and other values are used to help us plan events, although by default you will receive all invitations. If you want to filter out some of these emails, please change the filter_email setting. We strongly recommend that you don't. Events are infrequent, sometimes every 2 weeks, sometimes once a month. In the past most people who filtered their invitations rarely got an email and thought the group had gone away.

Information sharing: no one outside of this group can see any of your personal information or know you have an account. This removes any possibility for spam or unwanted emails. As we're a group, it is nice to share some of your information with your fellow members.
